From the contemporary city vibe of Kigali to the village-clad rolling hills of the countryside, we bike, kayak, and trek our way from the sparkling streets of the capital city and the sweeping savannahs and lakes of Akagera National Park, into the lush green rain forests of Nyungwe National Park, along the sparkling shoreline of Lake Kivu and ending in the shadows of extinct volcanoes tracking endangered mountain gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park.

Day 02

Nyungwe National Park Canopy Walkway & Zipline

This morning, you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your 7:00 AM scenic domestic flight with RwandAir to Kamembe (approximately 40 minutes). Upon arrival, you will head straight to Nyungwe National Park for an unforgettable rainforest adventure. Your experience begins with Africa's highest zipline, where you will soar above the lush green forest and enjoy spectacular views of the valleys below. The thrilling ride takes you across the forest to the other side, offering a unique bird's-eye view of one of Africa's oldest rainforests. Next, you will enjoy the famous Canopy Walkway, a suspended bridge high above the treetops. Walking through the forest canopy, you will take in breathtaking panoramic views, listen to the sounds of the rainforest, and, with a bit of luck, spot colorful birds and playful monkeys. After crossing the canopy, you will enjoy a scenic guided hike back through the forest to the starting point, completing this exciting adventure. You will then transfer to your lodge for check-in and a relaxing lunch. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure, allowing you to unwind and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the lodge.

Chimpanzee Tracking

Day 04

Drive to Volcanoes National Park (Optional Helicopter Transfer Quoted Separately)

After breakfast, check out and depart for a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park (approximately 5 hours), home to the endangered Mountain Gorillas. For added comfort and spectacular aerial views, you may also choose an optional 45-minute helicopter transfers, (at extra cost) allowing you to arrive earlier and enjoy more time at your lodge. If traveling by road, enjoy Rwanda's breathtaking countryside as you follow part of the Congo Nile Trail. Along the way, admire the country's rolling hills, sparkling lakes, picturesque villages, and beautiful landscapes, with plenty of opportunities for memorable photos. Upon arrival at Volcanoes National Park, check in to your lodge and enjoy lunch. Later in the afternoon, visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund for a self-guided tour. This inspiring conservation center offers fascinating insights into gorilla research, conservation efforts, and the unique world of mountain gorillas, making it the perfect introduction to your unforgettable gorilla trekking experience the following morning.

Gorilla Trekking

The journey begins at the park headquarters, where you will receive a briefing from park rangers and be assigned a professional guide. Golden monkeys are known for their playful and social behavior, and this trek offers a rare opportunity to observe them in their natural habitat, surrounded by the lush greenery of Volcanoes National Park. Following the trek, return to the lodge for a well-deserved lunch. After lunch you will visit Gorilla Guardians Village for a cultural experience.
