Journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, leave Kampala behind as your journey takes you through the heart of rural Uganda. Rolling hills, tea estates, banana plantations and colourful roadside markets create an ever-changing landscape that perfectly introduces the country's remarkable beauty. Along the way, stop at the Equator for photographs before continuing south through the spectacular Albertine Rift Valley. Arriving at Queen Elizabeth National Park in time for lunch, you'll have an opportunity to relax before heading out on your first private game drive across the famous Kasenyi Plains. This wildlife-rich ecosystem is renowned for its large herds of Uganda kob, which in turn attract lions, leopards and other predators. This UNESCO World Heritage Site protects one of the world's oldest rainforests and is home to nearly half of the remaining mountain gorilla population. Upon arrival at your lodge, spend the afternoon at leisure before attending your gorilla trekking briefing, where experienced park rangers will prepare you for tomorrow's unforgettable encounter.

Today's experience is undoubtedly the highlight of your Ugandan adventure. Following an early breakfast, you'll transfer to the park headquarters where experienced Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers will allocate your gorilla family and conduct a comprehensive briefing before the trek begins. Each trek is unique. Depending on the location of your assigned gorilla family, the hike may take anywhere from one to six hours through ancient rainforest, crossing streams, climbing forest trails and navigating dense vegetation. Then comes the moment few experiences in the world can rival. Standing only metres away from a family of wild mountain gorillas, you'll spend one unforgettable hour quietly observing their natural behaviour—from playful juveniles and protective silverbacks to mothers gently caring for their young. It's an encounter that leaves a lasting impression long after the safari has ended.
